JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: CORE MAKER/MACHINE OPERATOR
Employment Status: Full Time
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Department: Core Room
Position Reports To: Core Room Supervisor/Lead
Summary Description:
Produce sand cores used in the production of aluminum castings. Finish assembly of sand core and core parts.
Essential Functions:
  • Operate core make machinery
  • Assist in training co-workers
  • Maintain a good attendance record
  • Keep work area clean
  • Load/unload cores and core pattern pieces into core make machinery
  • Inspect own work for visual defects
  • Learn identification numbers for all core boxes
  • Record data as required on all internal documents
  • Perform set-ups, attend to minor breakdowns and report other equipment conditions as necessary
  • Sprinkle or spray parting agent onto pattern and flask, to facilitate removal of core from machine
  • Perform housekeeping
  • Repair damaged impressions
  • Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned
Skills or Experience Required:
Must have High School diploma or GED. Must be team-oriented. Must be able to follow written and oral instruction. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be focused and have strong attention to detail.

Must be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids:
