What is a core development group?

A Core Development Group typically refers to a team of key software engineers or developers responsible for the foundational aspects of a software project or system. This group is in charge of designing, developing, and maintaining the core architecture, frameworks, and essential features that other teams or users rely on. Core Development Groups often set coding standards, review contributions, and ensure the stability and performance of the software. Their work is critical for the long-term sustainability and success of complex software projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a core developer, and why are they important?
