Job description

LOCATION: KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL | Quality Management
POSITION STATUS: 1.00 | Permanent
SALARY RANGE: BU13 | SR22
SALARY RATE: $66,324.00 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE
JOB DUTIES: The functions of Quality Improvement are to monitor and evaluate the quality or appropriateness of care provided to patients; collect and review data on patient care to identify problems; seek ways to improve patient care and to resolve problems associated with clinical performance. Monitor for regulatory compliance.
The primary responsibility of the position is to perform timely and accurate data retrieval from the Electronic Medical Record, entering data into various databases, utilizing established specifications to submit data to external reporting agencies. This position will be working with physicians, program administrators, subject matter specialists and staff. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION: One of the following must have successfully been completed:
1) A full four (4) year course leading to a bachelor's degree in an accredited college or university.
2) Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in administrative, professional, investigative, technical or other responsible work which demonstrated that the applicant is able to assimilate and analyze data to arrive at sound solutions to problems and which includes evidence of professional statistical work.
3) Appropriate experience as described in (2), with education that will total four years of education and experience and give the applicant a technical knowledge comparable to that which would have been acquired through successful completion of a full four (4) year course.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Two and one half (2 ½) years of research statistical survey work which included applying statistical theory and method in planning establishment and operation of comprehensive data collection systems, including all phases of collection, editing, processing and publishing complex and extensive statistical data. The capacity to plan and coordinate statistical survey activities of considerable difficulty, breadth and complexity is required.
Two (2) years of experience in data collection and reporting and/or clinical chart reviews and abstraction preferred.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATION: RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), or CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar) or any other healthcare related certification that provides knowledge and expertise in clinical review of the patient medical record.

Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Compliant and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
