Job Title: Proposal Technical Writer
Location: Hybrid McLean VA
SUMMARY
The proposal technical writer is a key part of our Growth team and driving our success and wins. The role develops technical and management content for federal proposals, ensuring alignment with RFP requirements and win strategy. Works with SMEs to translate solutions into clear, compelling narrative. Edits and refines drafts for readability, compliance, and consistency. Supports multiple proposal efforts simultaneously under tight deadlines.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Write clear, succinct, and compelling proposal sections and proposal-related technical and non-technical documents that are compliant and responsive to RFP requirements and that meet corporate quality and format standards, adhere to corporate style guides, and require little to no copy editing or proofing. Assignments will include leading written responses to Management, Corporate Experience, Staffing Rationale, Resumes, and Transition-In-Plans, as well as technical response sections.
• Work with Solution Architects and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to document, write, and articulate solutions and provide proof points and corporate experience examples to support our solution and winning story and that clearly convey the benefits of our solution to the customer into proposal response text.
• Work as part of a collaborative team to clearly articulate solution and strategy, approach to performing the work, experience, win themes, and discriminators.
• Apply communication and interviewing skills to gather needed information from internal and external personnel to support writing activities.
• Develop and implement process improvements to help improve proposal quality.
• Effectively utilize existing documentation and proposal material to address recurring content inquiries and develop tailored proposal responses
• Manage multiple concurrent assignments, prioritizing appropriately to meet required deadlines and content production requirements (page or word count)
• Populate and maintain a library of approved proposal content
• Ensure deadlines are met for all communication materials
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Background, and Years of Experience
• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA
• 6+ years of experience working as a proposal writer responding to Federal Government solicitations.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
• Evidence of a successful track record of high quality, high scoring proposals.
• Demonstrated success writing and leading technical, management, transition, staffing, and/or corporate experience & past performance volumes for complex efforts.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong work ethic and desire to excel and keep growing over time.
• Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Skills
• Technical education / expertise related to IT modernization
• Experience with AAS proposals.
