CooperRiis: A Holistic Approach to Mental Health Recovery

CooperRiis is a voluntary residential mental health treatment facility that does not provide detox services. We take a holistic approach to care, emphasizing the health and wellness of both our residents and our staff.

Our philosophy centers on respecting the autonomy of each individual, fostering a sense of community, and using a strength-based model to support mental health recovery. We believe that healing is most effective when people feel empowered, connected, and supported.

Our Nursing Team plays a vital role in this journey. They have the time and space to build meaningful relationships with residents, offer personalized education, and provide individualized support throughout the recovery process.

Location: Asheville, NC

Schedule:

  • Monday – Thursday 10:30 pm to 8:00 am

Benefits:

Pay:

  • LPN starting at $26.50 - $31.00 per hour based on experience
  • RN starting at $29.00 - $34.00 per hour based on experience
  • Shift differential for 3rd Shift Hours

Responsibilities:

  • Developing individualized care plans with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, therapists and other health care professionals
  • Educating residents about mental health conditions and treatment plans, including coping strategies, self-care techniques, medications and supplements, and medication compliance.
  • Take vital signs daily and perform nursing assessment
  • Provide basic first aid when necessary
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the psychiatrist and monitor patients for side effects and responses to these medications.
  • Weekly packing of medications with residents, and to determine eligibility for resident self-administration of medications
  • Assesses residents with physical and mental health complaints and collaborate with the on-site physician for follow up actions
  • Administer random breathalyzer and urine drug screening
  • Provides crisis intervention and assists with hospitalization when necessary
  • Communicate with Integrative Health Specialist regarding supplements, dietary concerns, and additional weight monitoring
  • Responds to crises, using de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral emergencies and ensure patient safety
  • Maintains accurate and detailed resident records

Qualifications:

  • RN or LPN NC or compact license
  • Previous psychiatric experience preferred
