General Responsibilities:

  • Draft baseline Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and visual inspection guides.
  • Define incoming material, in-process, and final gate inspection workflows.
  • Identify, purchase, and log necessary measurement gauges and testing equipment.
  • Assist with tracking maintenance and calibration checks for production equipment.

  • Coordinate with engineering, sales, purchasing, and production departments to ensure efficient production and prevent manufacturing disruptions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing practical quality control policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate production limitations and advise ways to streamline processes.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
  • Train and coach shop floor personnel on quality standards, inspection methods, and self-check procedures.
  • Implement basic problem-solving frameworks to fix and prevent recurring defects.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of basic manual inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, work order routings, and audit processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to introduce new rules to an established workforce.
  • Ability to build simple, practical systems that match a small business budget and pace.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of individuals both internally and externally.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
