Internship Creo information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship Creo, and why are they important?

To excel in a Creo internship, you need a foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles and CAD design, typically supported by ongoing studies in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with PTC Creo software, 3D modeling tools, and basic engineering drawing standards is commonly required. Attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and good teamwork and communication skills help interns stand out. These competencies are essential for contributing effectively to design projects and adapting quickly in a professional engineering environment.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an intern expect during a Creo internship?

During a Creo internship, interns typically work on real-world design and engineering projects using PTC Creo software. Responsibilities may include creating 3D models, drafting technical drawings, and assisting senior engineers with product development tasks. Interns often collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as product design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, gaining valuable exposure to the full product development lifecycle. This hands-on experience helps interns build practical skills and often provides opportunities to present their work and receive feedback from experienced professionals.

What is an Internship Creo?

An Internship Creo typically refers to an internship position focused on using Creo, which is a popular 3D CAD (computer-aided design) software developed by PTC. Interns in this role usually assist with designing, modeling, and drafting parts or assemblies in an engineering or manufacturing environment. This position helps students or recent graduates gain hands-on experience with industry-standard CAD tools, develop technical skills, and understand real-world engineering processes. It's a valuable opportunity for those pursuing careers in mechanical engineering, product design, or related fields.

Location: Denver and LA

Duration: Summer Internship / Jun 1st-August 1st (dates can change)

Department: Mechanical Engineering / Project Engineering

Reports To: Project Engineer / Engineering Manager

???? Role Overview

The intern supports mechanical and project engineering activities across active projects, contributing to design, analysis, testing, documentation, and coordination tasks. The role is ideal for students seeking hands‑on engineering experience in a fast‑paced, technical environment.

???? Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, modeling, and modification of mechanical components using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar).
  • Support engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and basic simulations under supervision.
  • Participate in project planning activities, including scheduling, documentation, and progress tracking.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (manufacturing, quality, procurement, operations) to support project execution.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Assist in prototype builds, testing, data collection, and reporting.
  • Conduct research on materials, components, and industry standards to support engineering decisions.
  • Help identify and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues during project development.
  • Present project updates and findings to engineering leadership.

???? Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Completion of foundational coursework (Statics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Materials, CAD).
  • Basic proficiency with 3D CAD software.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

???? Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FEA or CFD tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, welding, additive manufacturing).
  • Exposure to project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Asana).
  • Hands‑on experience with lab equipment, prototyping, or mechanical systems.

???? What You’ll Gain

  • Real‑world experience applying mechanical engineering principles to active projects.
  • Exposure to the full engineering lifecycle—from concept to testing to implementation.
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and project managers.
  • Opportunities to develop technical, analytical, and professional skills.
  • A portfolio of meaningful project contributions.
