Controls Engineer

We are working with a industrial manufacturing company in Pierceton, IN. They are looking to add an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer to their team . This is a key position supporting highly automated production equipment


Key Responsibilities as a Controls & Automation Engineer;


  • Leading a small team of Controls Technicians (2-3)
  • Programming PLC Controls (Allen Bradley/Siemens)
  • Programming Robotics (ABB and Fanuc)
  • Troubleshoot robotic, PLC, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Monitor equipment performance during shifts and report operational data
  • Respond quickly to equipment issues and coordinate support teams
  • Test and maintain robots and end-of-arm tooling
  • Install, program, and repair PLCs, robot controllers, conveyors, and automation systems
  • Mentoring and Training Technicians as required
  • Modify and optimize robot movements and PLC programs
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated systems
  • Document testing procedures, repairs, and maintenance results
  • Support root cause analysis and equipment failure investigations
  • Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Develop rapid repair solutions to minimize downtime
  • Perform additional duties as required


Required Skills & Experience:


  • Experience with 24VDC to 480VAC, 3-phase electrical systems
  • PLC programming experience, including Allen-Bradley systems
  • Knowledge of HMI and SCADA systems
  • Continuous improvements and reliability
  • Leader with ability to train and mentor Controls Technicians
  • Able to read electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Troubleshooting experience with CNCs, robots, conveyors, and press equipment
  • Familiar with Fanuc robot recovery and program changes
