Job description

Job Description About the Role Pinnacle Partners is recruiting for a Project Engineer on behalf of a client in Indianapolis, Indiana. We are seeking a well-rounded engineer with experience in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, electrical design, project management, and hands-on commissioning. This role will manage projects from start to finish, including design, programming, documentation, testing, customer coordination, and on-site startup.

The position offers flexibility to work remotely for qualified candidates while supporting projects primarily within a regional territory. Key Responsibilities: Manage engineering projects from start to finish, including budgets, schedules, design, testing, commissioning, and customer coordination. Maintain project budgets and schedules while ensuring project deliverables are completed on time.

Design control panels and develop electrical engineering documentation and submittals. Develop and program PLC control systems, primarily utilizing Allen Bradley platforms. Design and develop SCADA and HMI screens.

Utilize CAD and other design software to support engineering projects and technical questions. Develop project submittals and review submitted documents for accuracy and completeness. Test equipment and control systems prior to installation and startup.

Perform on-site project startups and commissioning activities. Provide hands-on technical support at customer sites, including installation and troubleshooting as needed. Coordinate with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal teams throughout project execution.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, with typical projects ranging from approximately $25,000 to $1 million. Support both new-build and retrofit projects. Work with Project Support Engineers or junior engineering resources on larger projects.

Provide technical solutions and support for water, wastewater, municipal, and manufacturing applications. Travel to customer sites as needed to support installations, commissioning, and project requirements. Requirements: 3-5+ years of engineering experience.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a similar engineering discipline preferred. Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting. Knowledge of Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, or similar PLC platforms.

Experience developing HMI screens using FactoryTalk or comparable software. Experience with electrical design, wiring schematics, or control panel design. Experience with recent design software such as AutoCAD or similar CAD platforms.

Ability to support project commissioning and startup activities. Strong hands-on mechanical and technical aptitude. Ability to manage project budgets, schedules, documentation, and deliverables.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work directly with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal teams. Willingness to travel to customer sites and work remotely when not traveling.

Preferred: Water/wastewater experience, including plant or municipal experience. Experience working for an engineering or systems integrator. SCADA experience.

Knowledge of industrial communication protocols. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical. Knowledge of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards.

Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Knowledge of UL 508 standards. Proficiency with electrical panel design and panel building.

Experience with control system commissioning and startup. Proficiency with hand, power, and specialized measuring tools. Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs.

Experience with project management, including budgets, schedules, and submittals. Benefits Overview: Competitive base salary of approximately $90,000 to $115,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Remote work flexibility for qualified candidates.

Monday-Friday schedule, with standard office hours of 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Company vehicle typically available after 90 days of employment. Company gas card, credit card, and lodging card for business travel.
