Position Summary:

TheSr. Controls Engineer will be developing, programming, and commissioning automation control systems from concept through implementation. This role involves creating virtual commissioning environments usingEmulate3D, developingPLC logic programs from scratch, and designingSCADA and HMI applicationswithinIgnitionandFactoryTalk Optix Studioplatforms. The Controls Engineer will also design, and document detailed electrical control systems, producingelectrical schematicsandpanel assembly drawingsusingAutoCAD Electrical.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working with multiple cross functional engineers to bring a solution from concept to reality.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to integrate conveyer control solutions, automated material handling equipment, and autonomous vehicles.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematic drawings.
  • Develop and debug controls system software.
  • Ability to provide technical expertise in controls and electrical engineering.
  • Perform on-site commissioning support when required.
  • Perform necessary electrical field wiring.
  • Perform necessary mechanical installation when required.
  • Perform design and code reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in: Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in control systems engineering with a Bachelors degree or 7+ years with a Masters degree.

Essential Skills Required:

  • Ability to develop PLC programs and HMI programs from scratch.
  • Proficiency reading schematics and troubleshooting existing control systems including software debugging, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting VFD's.
  • Proficiency
    with: Studio 5000/RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to Lead and/or assist in project definition, specification, purchasing follow-through to installation
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in software and hardware.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Job will require up to a maximum of 50% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting servo drives.
  • SQL Management experience.
  • Inductive Automation Ignition experience
  • Understanding of computer networking concepts and architecture
  • Warehouse operations management experience or experience with warehouse management and/or execution systems.
