Job description

Worldwide Aircraft Services, Inc. STATEMENT:
In the performance of your respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to confirm to the following:

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and service agencies.

POSITION PURPOSE: Develop and implement strategies to sustain a cost effective and adequate supply chain of airframe and component parts as the aircraft fleets age.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Engineering Management:

  • Create WASI Engineering Orders for compliance with OEM Maintenance Programs, S/Bs, SILs and FAA Airworthiness Directives
  • Develop and document FAA Acceptable Data to support repairs and modifications on Airframe, Components, Engines and Propellers
  • Liaison with the FAA FSDO, MIDO and ACO on approval of repair substantiation packages and PMA part design projects
  • Develop and analyze FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) data on aircraft systems and related components.
  • Identify and develop new test fixtures and equipment. Assist the Quality Department on the approval, training and implementation of all new test fixtures and equipment
  • Liaison with AirT, Inc related companies and customers to provide Engineering support.
  • Assist with management of chronic parts and parts management.
  • Ensure aircraft modifications, ADs, SBs are properly identified in our company systems and publications
  • Ageing Aircraft Program:
  • Identify high repair cost components for the WASI fleets and develop strategies to reduce the repair/overhaul costs while maintaining MTBF/MTBR metrics and overall Quality
  • Perform cost analyses to determine if reductions in Inspection intervals can result in lower total maintenance costs.
  • Analyze the Engine Trend Monitoring reports and provide solutions to improve engine reliability and reduce repair costs.
  • Provide changes to the Reliability Improvement Modification Program (RIMP) to extend the life and improve reliability of company fleet aircraft and components.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Identify and assist with the approval process of new repair vendors and part suppliers Act as the technical liaison with vendors and suppliers
  • Analyze vendor repair and overhaul data to ensure reliability and costs are maintained to acceptable levels
  • Work with WASI Maintenance & Quality Departments along with vendors to develop PMA/DER/STC approved replacement parts and reduce BER replacement of parts.
  • Review Repair orders for components and provide dispute resolution on invoices.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Manage BER/Repairs to ensure fleet long-term viability
  • Recommend changes in Repair Orders and monitor repairs through its life cycle.
  • Grow the business sector to add additional revenue streams in the related fields.
  • Act as a member of the WASI Project Review Board and forecast and track Project Status.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience of airframe, engine and/or component repair/overhaul processing
  • Knowledge of aircraft materials, coatings and electroplating
  • Knowledge of standard machining equipment and processes
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations pertaining to the certification and repair of components
  • Knowledge and Use of Standard Quality Inspection tooling along with Non-Destructive Testing Methods
  • Knowledge of the development and approval process for FAA PMA Parts and DER Repair Substantiation Packages

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Supervision of WASI and Contract employees

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Company Indoctrination Training
  • Aircraft Systems Training
  • CARDEX System Training (OJT)

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work typically performed in an office environment. However, due to work requirements, may require frequent travel which will involve exposure to noise, chemicals, adverse temperatures and other similar hazards.
