ABOUT GOOD CONTRACTING: Good Contracting is a social enterprise of the Calgary Dream Centre, launched
to create meaningful, paid employment pathways for individuals transitioning through recovery programs into
stable, long term work. It operates as a professional general contracting company delivering reliable services
to housing providers and property managers across Calgary.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Good Contracting Crew Lead is responsible for the execution of general contracting projects, including
drywall, painting, cabinetry, flooring, and finish carpentry. This role provides direct supervision to Crew
Members, ensures work is completed safely and to a high standard, and serves as the primary point of contact
between the team and the Good Contracting Manager. The Crew Lead plays a critical role in maintaining
quality, pace, and professionalism on every job site.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Lead and perform hands on trade work (drywall, painting, cabinetry, flooring, finish carpentry)
alongside Crew Members on every shift; cross division support may be required as business needs
evolve.
- Prepare job sites at the start of each shift and ensure thorough clean up at completion.
- Execute the daily schedule as set by the Manager; flag scope changes, unexpected site conditions, or
resource gaps for Manager approval.
- Conduct pre shift site inspections and enforce OH&S compliance, including PPE use and safe work
practices.
- Complete incident reports accurately and promptly when required.
- Provide direct supervision and clear task direction throughout each shift, including daily briefings.
- Coach Crew Members through hands on skill development and provide regular performance
observations to the Manager.
- Review completed work against quality standards before leaving any job site; correct deficiencies on
the spot and escalate issues requiring Manager input.
- Communicate professionally with property managers, tenants, and on-site contacts; direct all client
relationship matters to the Manager.
- Ensure crews have the tools and materials needed for each job; track supplies and flag shortages to the
Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years of hands on experience in construction, renovation, painting or a related trade.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise at least one other worker in a field setting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to give clear, respectful direction.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently without close oversight.
- Valid driver's license mandatory.
