Job description

Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer (Biotech/Pharma – GxP Environment)
Location: Onsite – Cary, NC & San Francisco, CA
Type: Contract

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer with a strong background supporting IT operations in a Biotech/Pharma GxP-regulated environment. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on support for end-users, ensuring compliance with GxP, FDA, and other regulatory standards while maintaining seamless IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite desktop and end-user support including hardware, software, and peripherals troubleshooting.
  • Install, configure, and maintain laptops, desktops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Support Windows, macOS, and collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom, O365).
  • Ensure IT systems and processes are aligned with GxP and FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Document incidents, service requests, and resolutions in ticketing systems (ServiceNow/Jira/Remedy).
  • Work closely with IT, QA, and Compliance teams to support validated systems and GxP applications.
  • Support lab systems, scientific applications, and other pharma/biotech-specific tools as required.
  • Provide VIP/Executive support and timely resolution of escalated issues.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding including account provisioning, access management, and asset deployment.
  • Maintain SOPs, validation documentation, and IT policies relevant to a GxP environment.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 2-5+ years of Desktop/End-User Support experience.
  • Strong experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, or Life Sciences domain.
  • Proven knowledge of GxP, FDA, 21 CFR Part 11, and IT compliance standards.
  • Hands-on expertise with Windows OS, macOS, Active Directory, O365, and standard productivity tools.
  • Experience supporting validated IT systems and lab/scientific applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira, etc.).
