Job description

The Division of Business Operations (DBO), Building Operations Center (BOC) is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a vacant Office Technician (OT) Typing position. This position will be located at 1120 N Street in Sacramento and will have Building Operations and Customer Service responsibilities. This is a Full Time Permanent position.
Under the general direction of Supervisor I, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating various facility related projects and performing building management tasks. As a member of the Business Operation Center (BOC), the incumbent evaluates customers facility needs, inspects areas of concern, identifies, and analyzes options and presents to management. The incumbent will establish and maintains cooperative working relationships with facilities and divisional staff while working on all assignments; coordinate procurement of supplies and services; is responsible for processing building tenant requests and Department of General Services (DGS) MAXIMO requests; and utilize this system to coordinate the completion of service requests with Facility Contacts, DGS, and contractors. Responsible for tracking and monitoring the progress of the requests and ensuring that they are addressed in a timely manner while providing follow-up to customers as needed. The incumbent must be able to reason logically and provide high level customer service day-to-day. Exceptional communication is required, and strong organizational skills are a must. This position is responsible for performing varied facility duties for Caltrans' Division of Business Operations (DBO), and great attention to detail is required to ensure the integrity of documents and transactions.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Office Technician (Typing) exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
The incumbent may work in a climate-controlled office setting with artificial lighting. The incumbent may occasionally take transportation (car, light rail, bike, walk, or other mode of locomotion) to other facilities for meetings. May be required to telework as needed.
Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
