Location: Sunnyvale, California

Job Overview:
The primary role of a Hardware Engineer IV is to research, design, develop, and test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. This position involves overseeing the manufacture and installation of computer hardware and related components, ensuring they meet operational and performance specifications.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and approve plan layouts, including modifications to computers and peripheral equipment.
  • Evaluate and approve product prototypes, working models, or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
  • Supervise equipment functionality and approve modifications to ensure systems operate in conformance with specifications.
  • Write detailed functional specifications documenting the hardware development process and supporting hardware introduction.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to engineering staff, consulting specifications to evaluate hardware-software interfaces and overall system requirements.
  • Provide training and support to system designers and users.
  • Design and develop computer hardware and support peripherals, including CPUs, support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, printers, and disk drives.
  • Direct technicians, engineering designers, or other technical support personnel as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Creativity, strong verbal and written communication skills, and analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team player with attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • In-depth knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering science and technology applications.
  • Expertise in circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Experience with computer applications and design software related to the engineering field.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
