Our client, a world leader in life sciences and biotechnology, is looking for a “System Engineer” based out of Santa Clara, CA.

Overview:

Client is seeking a System Engineer to support next-generation sequencing and sample preparation platforms through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, testing, and system reliability improvements. This role involves working cross-functionally with engineering, assay, instrument, and reagent teams in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot sequencing and sample prep systems at hardware, software, and assay levels
  • Perform failure analysis, root cause investigations, and defect resolution
  • Execute experiments, testing, and validation activities
  • Support system reliability, performance improvements, and instrument development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and implement solutions
  • Analyze data using statistical tools such as JMP or R
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and records
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 1–2+ years of experience in troubleshooting complex systems or laboratory instrumentation
  • Experience with microfluidics, liquid handlers, diagnostic systems, or NGS platforms preferred
  • Knowledge of sequencing methodologies is a plus
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools (JMP, R) and Python preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a lab-based, fast-paced team environment
