What is a Contract Sourcer job?

A Contract Sourcer is a recruiting professional hired on a temporary or contract basis to identify and engage potential job candidates. Contract Sourcers are commonly used by companies looking to scale their hiring efforts quickly or for specialized roles requiring targeted searches.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Contract Sourcer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Sourcer, you need strong sourcing skills, knowledge of recruitment best practices, and experience with candidate databases or applicant tracking systems, typically supported by a background in human resources or talent acquisition. Proficiency with tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search strategies, and CRM/ATS platforms is highly valued, and relevant certifications such as AIRS or LinkedIn Certified Professional—Recruiter can be advantageous. Excellent interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and time management are important soft skills for building candidate pipelines and coordinating with recruiting teams. These skills and qualities are vital for efficiently identifying top talent and ensuring a smooth, collaborative recruitment process.
