What is a contract recruiter?

Contract recruiters are professionals hired on a temporary basis to help organizations find and hire qualified candidates for open positions. Unlike permanent, in-house recruiters, contract recruiters typically work for a set period or until specific hiring goals are met. They may be brought in during periods of rapid growth, seasonal hiring needs, or to fill specialized roles. Contract recruiters often work independently or through staffing agencies and can provide expertise in sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates.

How does a contract recruiter typically collaborate with hiring managers and internal teams during the recruitment process?

A Contract Recruiter works closely with hiring managers and HR teams to understand the specific needs and requirements for each open position. They often conduct intake meetings to define the ideal candidate profile, clarify timelines, and set expectations. Throughout the search, Contract Recruiters provide regular updates, coordinate interviews, and gather feedback from stakeholders to ensure alignment and a streamlined hiring process. Effective communication and adaptability are key, as contract recruiters must quickly adapt to different teams and company cultures.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Recruiter, you need expertise in talent sourcing, candidate evaluation, and a solid understanding of recruitment processes, typically supported by experience in HR or staffing. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruiting platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter, and sometimes relevant certifications such as AIRS or SHRM are beneficial. Exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and strong organizational abilities help you build relationships and manage multiple requisitions efficiently. These skills ensure you can quickly identify and secure top talent to meet client needs in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

Ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-evolving environment, this role partners across finance, operations, and leadership to support contract execution and ensure compliance. If you're an expert in FAR, CAS, and government cost accounting and are energized by building something from the ground up this role offers the autonomy, influence, and visibility to make a lasting impact while helping expand Boldt's presence in a stable, growth-oriented market.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $107,000 - $146,000 (negotiable) annually. This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Why You'll Love Working at Boldt
  • Employee Owned: Your work fuels our success and your future
  • Purpose-Driven: ESG-focused work aligned with strong values
  • Better Together: Teamwork, trust, and shared accountability
  • Safety First: Everyone home safe every day
  • Career Growth: Real development through mentorship and hands-on learning
  • High-Impact Projects: Complex industrial work that matters
  • Lead & Mentor: Learn today, lead tomorrow
  • Rich Culture: What started as a carpentry shop has grown into a multi-million-dollar company built on relationships and craftsmanship
  • High Performance: By people, strengthened through AI and technology that enhance collaboration, transparency, and results.

At Boldt, high performance starts with strong relationships. We believe the best projects are delivered by teams that trust each other, communicate openly, and take ownership from the field to the office. Our culture blends accountability with support; where learning, mentorship, and collaboration, power results. You won't just contribute to projects that matter; you'll grow alongside people who are investing in your success.
What You Bring
  • A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in business administration, accounting, finance, or operations management.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in government contracting, including pre-award and post-award contract management.
  • Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) designation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FAR and CAS which includes experience with Incurred Cost Proposals/Submissions (ICP/ICS), Forward Pricing Rate Agreements (FPRA), and certified cost or pricing data requirements, in general.
  • Experience interfacing with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) preferred.
  • A valid driver's license may be required. Individuals in this role may be subject to an annual Motor Vehicle Records check. The outcome of any MVR checks conducted may negatively impact the persons' ability to participate in any vehicle program provided by the company, including but not limited to the ability to drive a personal vehicle on behalf of The Boldt Company or rent a vehicle through for business travel purposes.

Nice to Have
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and improving systems and procedures.
  • Exceptional communication skills, and ability to quickly build trust and develop positive relationships with co-workers, government officials, vendors, and customers.
