Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Senior Developer to join a credit execution team that manages credit strategy implementation. This role is positioned at the intersection of technology and business, focusing on leveraging platforms by implementing code logic for backend decisioning. The team is currently transforming its infrastructure from mainframe to open source and is scaling up its new technology stack and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teams in technology, credit risk, and product to execute the modernization roadmap.
  • Become proficient in the existing decision engine architecture and business workflows to lead enhancement initiatives.
  • Assess and identify opportunities for optimization as the platform transitions to its target state.
  • Lead technical conversations and suggest upgrades that support a smooth modernization process.
  • Implement code logic for backend decisioning systems.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
  • 10+ years in financial services, specifically within the lending space, involved with strategy-based decisioning platforms.
  • 8+ years of programming experience, with Java as the primary language.
  • Experience with open-source decision engines (e.g., Pega, FICO, Drools, InRule).
  • Proven experience modernizing enterprise systems to cloud-native architectures.
  • DevOps experience in a cloud environment.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and incremental delivery.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to work across a modern tech stack.
  • Familiarity with cloud concepts (AWS preferred) and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Proficiency in SQL and JSON to support design and implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior exposure to data build tool (dbt).
  • Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Wilmington, DE or Baltimore, MD.
Work Environment

Compensation & Benefits
