Job description

Position Summary: Reviews manufacturing requirements and determines the resources necessary to achieve the plan, then time-phases the requirements to support the master schedule. Develops and maintains detailed schedules and material requirements lists for program schedule requirements and proposal efforts.  Works with engineering to determine raw material, raw material costing and tooling requirements to support the program-manufacturing schedule.  Works with purchasing to obtain and schedule materials based on production schedule.  Reviews manufacturing requirements generated by engineering and determines the resources necessary to achieve the plan, then time-phases the requirements to support the master schedule. Also responsible for performing planned versus actual budget analysis showing the manufacturing history of each end-item produced, detailing the planned and actual cost information for material and labor.  Determines material requirements from engineering and production schedules. Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production, engineering, manufacturing engineering, and scheduling. Plans parts requirements for assembly and subassembly. Develops specifications for new contract orders. Prepares work orders/purchase requisitions for the production or procurement of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Assists management in resolving problems concerning over-shipments, shortages, engineering changes and cancellations. Monitors and records status-to-plan data. Oversees make or buy decision process. Sets reorder points. Determines inventory. Coordinates shipping to ensure that program schedules are met.  May provide guidance and leadership to more junior staff. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Acts on order releases action and exception messages from the company system. 

  • Plans and manages production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity. 

  • Analyzes sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements. 

  • Manages inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules. Completes shipping information and delivery date input during sale order reviews. 

  • Answer termination or cancellation requests from sales. 

  • Orders floor stock with shelf life material for production. 

  • Reviews work in process material sweeps from production floor. 

  • Receives and reviews sales orders against current requirements and work in process using the material requirement planning report. 

  • Releases purchase orders for production material, floor stock items and all purchases to support the business unit. 

  • Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on material status and production planning issues. 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience and Education:  

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent  

  • Technical Skills: 

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner or develop alternative solutions 

  • Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office programs and Windows operating system 

  • Ability to thrive in a changing, fast-paced growing and dynamic business 

  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail 

  • Physical Requirements: 

  • Extended screen time 

  • Long periods of sitting 

  • Potentially long hours
