Job description

Drewry Simmons Vornehm, LLP (DSV) is seeking an experienced Attorney to join our Construction Law practice.ย This role will focus on advising and representing clients across the construction industry, including owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals.ย The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction law, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.ย This position is based in our Carmel, IN office and offers growth potential within the firm.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, including AIA and customized agreements
  • Advise clients on risk management, project delivery methods, and compliance issues
  • Handle construction-related disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation
  • Represent clients in matters involving delay claims, defect claims, lien rights, and payment disputes
  • Provide counsel on regulatory and licensing requirements
  • Work closely with clients to proactively identify and mitigate legal risks throughout the lifecycle of construction projects
  • Collaborate with other practice groups as needed


Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree and J.D. with strong academic credentials
  • 2+ yearsโ€™ experience
  • Construction, commercial, and/or professional liability practice experience preferred
  • Prior construction industry experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with AIA documents and other standard industry forms
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve
