Join Amazon's legal team supporting Alexa, where you'll be part of a dynamic team working at the intersection of AI and consumer technology. Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented and tech savvy Contracts Manager to support our rapidly evolving Alexa business. You will help us grow our business and scale by leading contract negotiations, drafting contracts, working with cross-functional teams, and driving optimization and simplification of workflows, contracts, and processes.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to demonstrate an understanding of contractual terms and related technology and business considerations. You will also need sound judgment, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and an aptitude for technology and how it can be used achieve operational efficiency. Flexibility, sharp organizational skills, a self-starting work ethic, and a passion for simplification are desired.
Key job responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including services agreements and license and distribution deals
- Oversee a contracts database and business facing guidance
- Develop and maintain contract templates, fallbacks guides, training materials, and operating procedures
- Provide strategic contracting advice to business team members across multiple businesses
- Develop and drive continuous process improvement and simplification using contract tooling and AI
- Serve as a point of contact and subject matter expert for cross-functional teams
Your responsibilities may also include working with the business to review marketing collateral and other customer-facing and press messaging; creating and implementing tools for our team and for cross-department initiatives; and serving as point of contact and subject matter expert for outside counsel and internal Amazon initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
- Experience working with MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- 5+ years of contracts management, paralegal, or comparable experience within a law firm or in-house legal department
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Can use AI for legal research, contract analysis, or document review
- Experience working within a high-growth, technology company
- Self-starter with focus on excellence and entrepreneurship, common sense, great judgment, and ability to work independently in a sometimes ambiguous environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
