Job Title: Inventory Analyst
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Inventory Analyst with our client located in Houston, TX.
Job Description:
  • We are seeking an Inventory Analyst to support day-to-day supply, inventory, and purchasing activities across our client's global supply chain.
  • In this role, you will maintain material availability by monitoring supply strategies, executing site-to-site inventory balancing, and performing detailed inventory analysis.
  • You will also ensure high data integrity through consistent reporting and manage the full purchase order lifecycle to secure on-time deliveries.
  • The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in managing contract manufacturers (CMs), and comfortable working with data.
  • You should excel at executing standard operating procedures while continuously identifying opportunities for proactive process improvements.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Inventory Analysis & Reporting:
    • Run recurring reports to track inventory levels, excess & obsolete (E&O), and shortages across global hubs
    • Monitor inventory against targets (DOH, turns, safety stock) and flag variances to senior team members
    • Evaluate supply plans to manage inventory balancing across sites prior to E&O reporting Maintain and update dashboards and data files (Excel / BI tools) with accurate, timely information
    • Perform root cause analysis on inventory imbalances (excess, shortages, slow-moving stock)
    • Support monthly inventory reviews by preparing data and highlighting key changes
  • Operational Support for S&OP:
    • Provide data inputs for S&OP and supply reviews (inventory position, risks, gaps)
    • Track and report key metrics such as inventory turns, service levels, and aging
    • Follow up on action items from planning and inventory review meetings
  • Purchase Order Execution:
    • Create and release purchase orders based on planning signals and guidance
    • Manage open POs to ensure on-time delivery, including:
    • Tracking supplier commits
    • Expediting or de-expediting orders as needed
    • Resolving delivery and quantity discrepancies
    • Maintain accurate PO data in ERP systems (dates, quantities, pricing)
    • Communicate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve PO issues.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination:
    • Work with Planning, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth material flow
    • Coordinate inbound shipments and update delivery status as needed
    • Support Finance with basic PPV tracking and invoice discrepancies
  • Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement:
    • Follow standard operating procedures for inventory and purchasing activities
    • Identify data issues or process gaps and escalate to management
    • Support implementation of simple process improvements and data clean-up efforts.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing and inventory analysis (internships acceptable)
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic data analysis)
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, etc.) preferred
  • Basic understanding of supply chain and inventory concepts (lead time, safety stock, turns)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute repeatable processes accurately
  • Good communication skills for working with internal teams and suppliers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on commitments
