Responsibilities

  • As an Asst. Golf Course Superintendent you are responsible for developing an environment that creates excitement for guests and employees, promoting and retaining a highly skilled work force.
  • The Asst. Golf Course Superintendent in this position is responsible for managing and directing the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, cart paths and adjacent facilities; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment related to maintaining the golf course, including motorized and other mechanical equipment.

Requirements

  • Responsible for actively building & retaining customer relations and acts as a mentor to team members in order to provide superior customer service.
  • Trains, evaluates, disciplines and supervises staff to ensure team members have adequate resources and guidance to achieve established objectives.
  • Maintains team member safety and responsible for their personnel discipline.
  • Organizes and manages Golf Contract team member’s daily duties.
  • Supervises and/or applies all Fertilizer and Chemical Applications.Calibrates all fertilizer and pesticide application equipment and maintains Application Records.
  • Operates and maintains the irrigation system, pump station and controls.Installs and maintains various irrigation and drainage systems.
  • Plans and supervises maintenance of greens, tees and fairways, as well as the planting, cultivating, pruning, and care of plants, shrubs and trees.Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs surrounding walkways, benches, drinking fountains, and adjacent appurtenances.
  • Keeps time for department team members and contract labor.Orders and receives goods in accordance to our policy’s and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position operates in a working environment that is subject to hazards associated with use of pesticides and general landscape care products, basic hand and power tools, and gardening/mowing equipment. This position generally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions. Proper clothing is provided.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
· Prefer Associate's Degree (A.A.); Certificate or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; or equivalent experience and/or training.
· A minimum of 2-years prior golf course experience along with leadership skills required; management of crews and projects preferred.
· Possession of a valid driver's license.
· Must have or be able to obtain a Louisiana Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in Turf/Ornamentals within 90 days of employment.
· Effective communicator with all levels of team members, guests, and outside contractors.
· Ability to prepare and maintain clear and concise reports and records preferred.
· Requires physical strength, stamina and agility.
