Golf Course Maintenance

Wage: $15.00 - $18.00 Hourly

(Golf Benefits Included)

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of entry level, semi-skilled duties related to the mowing and maintenance of golf course greens, tees, roughs and fairways. Workers in this classification will typically be employed on a part-time or seasonal basis.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Operates gang mowers as needed to mow various sections of the golf course, including tees, greens, fairways, and rough; trims and edges lawns throughout the golf course; repairs turf; cuts and cleans up uncontrolled weeds and brush.


Performs general landscaping duties; grooms terrain according to landscaping designs and specifications; places structural materials for beautification such as rocks, boulders, paving brick, etc.; plants trees, shrubs, flowers; performs related environ maintenance and upkeep.


Monitors general condition of the golf course; picks up garbage, maintains water coolers; services ball washers, rakes and grooms bunkers; cleans and maintains restrooms.


Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  1. Education and Experience:
    1. Graduation from high school preferred
  2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Some skill in the operation of small-motorized equipment essential to lawn maintenance and upkeep such as mower machines, tillers, SandPro, and trimmers.

Ability to work in the outdoors under all weather extremes; perform strenuous physical labor; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

  1. Work Environment:
    Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, etc. Communicating, i.e. talking, hearing, and seeing, is essential to job effectiveness. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Periodic travel required in normal course of job performance.



As per Washington City policy and/or procedures, a background check, and drug screening evaluation will be required for potential new hire candidates prior to an offer of employment.
