These roles can be found in hospitals, surgical centers, or private practices and often offer higher pay than permanent positions. Contract CRNAs may work independently or as part of an anesthesia care team, depending on state laws and facility policies. Contracts can range from a few weeks to several months and may include travel opportunities. This type of job allows for flexibility in scheduling and work-life balance.

Familiarity with anesthesia machines, electronic medical records (EMR), and hospital protocols is essential. Strong decision-making, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal skills help you work efficiently across various clinical settings and teams. These competencies are crucial for delivering safe, high-quality anesthesia care and adapting quickly to new environments and workflows.

What are the typical work environments and team dynamics for a contract CRNA?

As a Contract CRNA, you may work in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, or outpatient clinics, often adapting to different case mixes and facility cultures.
