Job description

Sr. Clinical Lab Scientist

As our Sr. Clinical Lab Scientist, you will be responsible for performing the complete scope of tests in your assigned laboratory section, contributing to high-quality diagnostic services. Every day, you will execute the full range of laboratory tests within your assigned section under the direction of the laboratory supervisor, Laboratory Manager, and Pathologist, ensuring accuracy and precision. You will comply with all applicable laws and rules, including our organization's Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures, seeking guidance when in doubt and promptly reporting potential violations.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license and extensive experience performing complex laboratory tests in a specific section (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology), preferably within a hospital or clinical lab setting. You will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong understanding of quality control and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate. Screens individuals by requesting to see identification or visitor pass.
  • Maintain a valid California License as a Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS)
  • Willingness to actively participate in continue education, competency tests, and attends inservice training seminars to update knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and operation of the Laboratory (LIS) and the Hospital (HIS) computer system. This includes validating, recording and reporting tests results via phone, computer entry, and instrument verification protocol in a timely manner.
  • Performs and records instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control including proficiency testing.
  • Recognizes and prioritizes tasks appropriately. Respond to emergencies, adapt to changing situations and cope with stress in a professional manner.
