Job Responsibilities

As a Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS), you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic testing for a diverse patient population, from newborns to seniors. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing waived, moderately complex, and highly complex laboratory testing with precision and efficiency.
  • Conducting daily quality control checks, calibrations, and equipment maintenance to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicating critical test results promptly to physicians, nursing staff, and pathologists.
  • Supporting laboratory operations across multiple specialties, including Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Serology, Microbiology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis.
  • Supervising laboratory procedures and reporting in the absence of the Director or Lead CLS.
  • Adhering to regulatory standards, safety protocols, and organizational policies while fostering a culture of integrity and teamwork.
  • Remaining available for scheduled and unscheduled hours, including holidays, weekends, and on-call shifts, to support patient care during critical times.


Minimum Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills:

  • Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field and/or completion of a California-approved CLS training program.
  • Licensure: Current and active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (required).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CLS trainee; prior full CLS experience preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in diagnostic testing and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and patient-centered care.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $44.25 – $61.96 (depending on experience).
  • Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 for candidates with 3+ years of CLS experience.
