The ideal candidate is a tenacious, results-driven professional with deep knowledge of the commercial construction sales cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, track, and respond to bid invitations and requests for proposal for commercial glazing projects.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of commercial contract opportunities through consistent outreach, networking, and relationship management.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and industry events to position Binswanger Glass as a preferred glazing subcontractor.
  • Collaborate with estimating and project management teams to prepare competitive, accurate bids for commercial glazing contracts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with architectural specifiers to influence glass product specifications.
  • Manage the full business development cycle from initial prospecting through contract award and handoff to operations.
  • Follow up on submitted bids and proposals with GC and owner contacts to maintain competitive positioning and address any scope, pricing, or timeline questions.
  • Execute a structured follow-up cadence on open proposals, pending bid decisions, and dormant prospects to keep Binswanger Glass top-of-mind throughout the contractor's decision process.
  • Re-engage lapsed bid relationships and expired opportunities with updated pricing, new capabilities, or relevant project activity in the pipeline.
  • Conduct post-award check-ins with both awarded and lost bid contacts to gather market feedback, maintain goodwill, and strengthen positioning for future opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all prospect activity, bid status, and pipeline progression in Salesforce CRM.
  • Track commercial construction activity in target markets using project leads databases, permit reports, and industry publications.
  • Represent Binswanger Glass at trade shows, AGCA meetings, AIA events, and other industry forums.
  • Coordinate with regional operations leaders to confirm production capacity and delivery capability before committing to new bids.
  • Provide regular pipeline updates and forecasts to sales leadership.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Experience: 3+ years of B2B business development or outside sales experience in the commercial construction industry. Experience in glazing, specialty subcontracting, or architectural building products strongly preferred. Familiarity with the commercial construction bid process, including GC relationships and specification influence.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a hunter mentality and disciplined prospecting habits
  • Strong presentation and relationship-building skills with contractors, architects, and developers
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM or similar tools for pipeline tracking and reporting
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple active bids simultaneously
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned region
