Large Equipment Assembler / Manufacturing Technician


Location: Minneapolis, MN
Job Type: Full-Time | Union Position
Pay: $20–$25/hour depending on experience + $2.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift

Build Something Bigger

We are hiring experienced Assemblers and Manufacturing Technicians to work on the assembly and production of large industrial motors, generators, rotors, stators and related equipment.

This is not small bench assembly. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable working with large, heavy components and industrial equipment and who have a strong mechanical aptitude.

Candidates with a solid, dependable work history and previous large-scale assembly or industrial manufacturing experience will be given strong consideration.


What You'll Do

Depending on your experience and the department you're assigned to, responsibilities may include:

  • Assemble large motors, generators, rotors, stators and related components
  • Perform mechanical assembly and sub-assembly using hand and power tools
  • Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, engineering specifications and bills of materials
  • Perform layout, fitting and installation of components
  • Assist with winding, connecting and insulating electrical components
  • Perform basic electrical testing and troubleshooting
  • Fabricate and assemble conduit and piping
  • Braze, solder or weld components as required
  • Set up and operate manufacturing equipment
  • Move large materials and components using forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes and jib cranes
  • Complete required quality and production documentation
  • Follow established safety, quality and manufacturing procedures
  • Work as part of a team to complete large, complex assemblies


Our strongest candidates will have:

  • A stable work history demonstrating reliability and dependability
  • Previous experience with large equipment, machinery or industrial assembly
  • At least 1 year of manufacturing, mechanical assembly or related industrial experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics or detailed work instructions
  • Experience working around large or heavy components
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team
  • Willingness and ability to become certified on overhead cranes, jib cranes and forklifts

Experience with motors, generators, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, electrical assembly, winding, welding, brazing, fabrication or mechanical repair is especially valuable.

Physical Requirements


Candidates should be comfortable working in an active industrial environment that may require:

  • Lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing or sitting for extended periods
  • Climbing stairs and ladders
  • Working on platforms or around large equipment
  • Using hand tools, power tools and manufacturing equipment
  • Working in tight or confined spaces when necessary


Pay & Schedule

1st Shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
2nd Shift: 3:30 PM–12:00 AM
