Job description

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is searching for a Continuous Improvement Manager for our Steele, Alabama plant. In this role, you will drive sustainable continuous improvements within the facility, delivering breakthrough results in safety, quality, delivery and cost while developing cultural change and engagement throughout the organization. The CI Leader works closely with plant leadership and department employees to achieve results. This position requires strong technical lean manufacturing and hands-on leadership skills, along with a passion for operations excellence to be successful.

What You'll Do: 

  • Implement operational excellence and continuous improvement strategies that directly tie-in with the site’s KPI’s (measurable results and sustainment will be tied in with performance reviews)
  • Lead and facilitate data-driven Kaizen events to identify constraints and drive sustainable improvements and work closely with plant personnel
  • Lead and facilitate events to identify and systematically reduce all forms of waste.
  • Develop and execute improvement action plans with specific owners and completion dates 
  • Develop a Lean Culture within the facility engaging individuals from the shop floor up
  • Develop tracking tools and measures to support key KPI initiativessuch as increasing efficiency, throughput/capacity, and reducing shop cost per unit rates
  • Develop business case justification for projects and initiatives 
  • Create best practices to better leverage resources across all facilities
  • Provide and teach CI tools to team members 
  • Build a CI culture across the organization  
  • Assist in the development and implementation of capital projects, including equipment feasibility studies, working with key stakeholders
  • Provide guidance on staffing, training, employee relations and performance management to develop and enhance the Operations function, working closely with direct reports

What You'll Need: 

  • Minimum of five (5) years in a manufacturing environment 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Continuous Improvement experience required 
  •  Extensive technical skills and hands-on experience in continuous improvement manufacturing activities
  • Self-starter who can easily engage other individuals across all jobs and responsibilities within the plant and organization
  • Strong application knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and related Continuous Improvement tools 
  • Knowledge of Lean Daily Management, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, 5S, Kanban, 8 wastes, TPM and SMED changeover reduction 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university (Engineering, Math, Science, Business or Operations preferred) or equivalent combination of education and work experienceÂ
