Position Overview

As a Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will lead high‑impact, cross‑functional initiatives that improve business processes, reduce waste, and elevate operational performance using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

This role is an outstanding fit for engineers who have demonstrated experience with implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Your practical in‑house project experience means you know how to:

  • Navigate real‑world constraints and complex stakeholder dynamics.
  • Build buy‑in across corporate functions.
  • Use data to validate solutions and sustain improvements.
  • Translate tool proficiency into tangible KPI improvements and standardized ways of working.
Location

On‑site role: Ability to work at our Erwin, TN location.

Your Day to Day as a Continuous Improvement Engineer, AUKUS
  • Lead and execute structured process improvement projects using DMAIC and Lean methodologies.
  • Identify improvement opportunities across the value stream aligned with site KPIs and strategic priorities.
  • Plan and facilitate Kaizen events; document results and ensure follow‑through on actions.
  • Partner with functional leaders to define customer value and improve process effectiveness.
  • Use Value Stream Mapping and process mapping techniques to analyze workflows and differentiate value‑added from non‑value‑added activities.
  • Apply data‑driven problem‑solving techniques, including statistical analysis, to determine root causes and validate solutions.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate a strong potential for leadership and the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Lean Six Sigma Proficiency: Demonstrated track record of using Lean tools such as DMAIC and PDCA problem‑solving methods to drive solutions.
  • Problem Solving with Ease: Ability to lead cross‑functional teams through challenging situations and propose impactful, data‑supported improvements; manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver measurable operational results.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and relationship‑building abilities to positively influence stakeholders; effectively communicate complex technical information in writing and verbally; translate technical findings into clear communication for leadership.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

  • 3 or more years’ experience using PowerBI or other reporting visualization software tools.
  • Prior leadership experience.

Pay: $86,450- $136,000
