Job description

Associate Manager, Content Operations & Programming @
Joe Hand Promotions (JHP)
Company Overview
Joe Hand Promotions (JHP) is a global leader in the distribution of copyrighted out-of-home live sports and entertainment programming. JHP partners with top-tier organizationsโ€”including UFC, ESPN, DAZN, WWE, and AEWโ€”to deliver premium viewing experiences to commercial establishments such as bars, restaurants, and casinos.
A family-owned business for over 50 years, JHP is also deeply committed to community impact through initiatives like the Joe Hand Boxing Gym and other philanthropic efforts.

Position Summary
Joe Hand Promotions is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented professional to join our Content Team as an Associate Manager, Content Operations & Programming. This role serves as a foundational entry point into the organization, offering hands-on experience across content operations, programming, and strategy.
While operationally intensive and requiring exceptional attention to detail, this position is designed for individuals eager to grow into managing their own independent content portfolio. You will work closely with senior leadership, contribute to partner relationships, and gain exposure to high-level decision-making across the sports media landscape.

What the Content Team Does
The Content Team at JHP acts as the connective tissue between the organization and its content partners. Content Managers serve as the โ€œCEOsโ€ of their respective products, owning relationships with premier global partners such as UFC, ESPN, WWE, AEW, DAZN, and PBC.
They are responsible for the full lifecycle success of their content portfolio, including:
  • Relationship Management: Acting as the primary point of contact for content partners
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinating strategy across Sales, Marketing, Signal Activation, and Dev-Ops
  • Portfolio Growth: Identifying and acquiring new content opportunities

Your Path & Objective
Reporting to two Senior Content Managers, you will serve as a key support pillar across multiple content portfolios. This is not a purely administrative roleโ€”you will participate in partner calls, contribute to strategic discussions, and support day-to-day execution.
Your objective is to master the operational and strategic fundamentals of sports content distribution, positioning yourself to transition into a full Content Manager role with ownership of your own portfolio.

Core Responsibilities
1. Programming & Distribution Liaison (ESPN+ for Business)
  • Serve as the primary programming and scheduling liaison between ESPN and JHP stakeholders
  • Act as the bridge between ESPN and distribution partners, including DIRECTV for Business and the Joe Hand App
  • Maintain and audit customer-facing schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Support live operations, including off-hours and weekend coverage, particularly during peak sports seasons
2. Retention Intelligence & Churn Strategy
  • Lead churn tracking and retention analysis across subscription-based content
  • Identify patterns, trends, and triggers contributing to customer attrition
  • Collaborate with Content Managers to develop retention strategies and communicate insights to Sales
  • Provide data-driven insights that explain customer behavior and inform decision-making
3. Portfolio Management & Vendor Relations
  • International Soccer: Act as the Content Manager for this program, managing the partner relationship (ISM), sales enablement materials, and marketing alignment
  • Fanzo Relationship: Partner with internal stakeholders to oversee the Bar Finder platform, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and optimal user experience

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is passionate about sports media, highly analytical, and detail-oriented. You understand that successful content operations require both precision in execution and insight into customer behavior.
You are equally comfortable managing real-time programming updates and presenting data-driven insights to senior leadership.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: 2+ years in partnership management, business development, sales, or marketing preferred (exceptional recent or upcoming graduates will be considered)
  • Industry Interest: Strong interest in sports media, live programming, and media rights
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident engaging with external partners and senior stakeholders
  • Attention to Detail: Highly meticulous, with an understanding of the impact of accuracy in live programming
  • Analytical Skills: Comfortable working with spreadsheets, data sets, and extracting actionable insights
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed to support live sports programming

What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • 401(k) and Roth options
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Generous paid time off (20 vacation days plus holidays)
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Company profit-sharing contributions
  • Defined benefit plan
