Job description

Sage is on a mission to improve care and quality of life for older adults, starting with those residing in senior living facilities. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults over 65. And yet, fall prevention and emergency response systems for older adults are archaic and ineffective. At Sage we've built a more modern way of understanding when older adults need help, including methods for residents to alert caregivers when in need of help, and corresponding software for caregivers to triage response. Our company mission is to create a product that our client counterparts love, and this role is a key part of that objective.

Sage is a small, tight team of ambitious, multi-disciplinary entrepreneurs. We are a software-enabled, mission-driven company, and are focused only on the problems that are central to achieving that mission. At Sage, we work hard and fast but also know that to build a truly important company, we need to treat our work as a marathon, and not a sprint. The journey matters.

About this Role

As a Content Lead, you will define and own Sage's content strategy, then execute against it through compelling, narrative driven storytelling that drives brand awareness, educates our audiences, and fuels growth. This is a hands-on role that owns content end to end, from strategy and planning through writing, editing, distribution, and measuring content performance. You will also lead our Social Media Manager, ensuring our social channels consistently reflect Sage's brand, voice, and content strategy while maximizing audience engagement.

Success in this role depends on three things above all: being strategic enough to define what content should exist and why before determining how to execute it, being a strong communicator who can translate complex healthcare and technology topics into content that is clear and engaging, and being comfortable operating in ambiguity within a fast paced, mission driven environment where you are building process as you go.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain our overarching content strategy across audiences and formats (web, email, blog, social, long-form, and more).
  • Own content calendars and campaign planning in collaboration with marketing, product, and GTM teams.
  • Define and execute Sage's SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) strategy to increase discoverability across search engines and AI-powered platforms.
  • Create and manage high-quality editorial content-from thought leadership to case studies, newsletters to landing pages.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align content with business goals, voice, and positioning.
  • Measure content performance, uncover audience insights, and continuously optimize content strategy based on data.
  • Lead and mentor the Social Media Manager, setting the strategy for Sage's social channels and ensuring content is aligned with our brand, voice, and business objectives.
  • Uphold and evolve Sage's brand voice while managing freelance writers, agencies, and other creative partners as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-6+ years of experience in content strategy, brand storytelling, or editorial leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft thoughtful, strategic content across digital channels.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio that shows both creativity and clarity.
  • Experience working in fast-growing, cross-functional teams-particularly in mission-driven or healthcare-related companies.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity, rolling up your sleeves, and managing content end-to-end.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference for B2B experience. Open to D2C, but need to have reported into the Marketing function
  • Background in brand development or content design, or experience in virtual healthcare, wellness, or adjacent sectors.

Benefits and Pay

Our headquarters are located in New York City's Union Square. We believe in cross team collaboration. We think good ideas can come from anyone, and we've designed our processes to encourage participation from all. While we take our mission seriously, we don't take ourselves too seriously. We like to host offsites, outings, and team meals where we can connect as people, not just as colleagues. We offer office lunch and a fully stocked snack bar. While we are an in office culture, we allow up to 2 remote days per week.

Our benefits package for employees includes competitive base compensation along with stock options. The expected annual salary range for this role is $155,000-195,000 USD, depending upon the job level, which will depend on your level of expertise, your experience, and your qualifications. We also provide fully-paid health and dental insurance coverage for all of our employees, along with other health benefits including vision insurance, membership to premium primary and urgent care, and online medical health providers. We also have a take as you need time off policy, in addition to 7 paid holidays and a company wide winter break during the holidays.
