Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Learning & Development Specialist to help drive employee growth, capability building, and organizational performance across the enterprise. This role combines expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, learning technologies, and training facilitation to deliver engaging and impactful development experiences.

While the current focus of this position is the creation and administration of digital learning content and online learning programs, the successful candidate will also support broader talent development initiatives, including instructor-led training, leadership development, technical skills training, onboarding, compliance education, and career development programs.

The Learning & Development Specialist will play a key role in building capabilities across technical, leadership, and behavioral competencies while helping ensure compliance, regulatory, and safety training requirements are effectively communicated, tracked, and maintained.

Essential Responsibilities

Learning Program Development

  • Conduct training needs assessments and collaborate with business leaders to identify skill gaps and development opportunities.
  • Support enterprise learning initiatives related to leadership development, professional growth, onboarding, career pathways, and performance improvement.
  • Assist in developing competency-based learning programs that align employee development with business objectives.

Digital Learning & Content Development

  • Create engaging online learning experiences using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
  • Develop e-learning modules, videos, microlearning content, job aids, facilitator guides, and blended learning solutions.
  • Translate complex technical and operational information into learner-focused, practical training materials.
  • Continuously improve digital learning content to ensure accuracy, engagement, and business relevance.
  • Utilize learning technologies and authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.

Learning Technology & LMS Administration

  • Administer and maintain the company's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Manage learning assignments, learning paths, certifications, reporting, and learner records.
  • Analyze training effectiveness through learner feedback, assessments, completion rates, and business performance metrics.
  • Leverage emerging learning technologies and AI-enabled tools to improve the learner experience and increase training effectiveness.

Facilitation & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner with subject matter experts to create high-quality learning solutions for employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders across Operations, Safety, Human Resources, and other business functions to ensure learning initiatives support organizational priorities.
  • Facilitate virtual, instructor-led, and blended learning experiences as needed.

Compliance & Safety Training

  • Support the development and delivery of compliance, regulatory, and safety-related training programs.
  • Monitor training completion metrics and assist with audit and compliance reporting efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Instructional Design, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience creating and delivering digital learning content and instructor-led training programs.
  • Solid knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools.
  • Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Training, Instructional Design, or a related discipline.
  • Experience producing multimedia learning content, including video-based training.
  • Knowledge of competency frameworks, career development pathways, and leadership development programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CPTD, ATD, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or related credentials.
  • Experience leveraging learning analytics to measure training effectiveness and business impact.
