Job description

Who You Are

At Justworks, we're on a mission to support and empower small and medium-sized businesses by providing a simple and friendly platform, expert support, and access to vital benefits. We believe that great design is at the heart of this mission and we're looking for a curious, empathetic, and passionate Content Designer to join our Experience Design Team. This is an exciting opportunity to craft content that is not only engaging and effective but also integral to the overall user experience.

As a Content Designer, you will work closely with cross-functional partners to design and deliver the Justworks experience. You care deeply about creating knowledge that people can trust. You're energized by organizing information, improving documentation, and making it easier for others to find the answers they need.

You enjoy bringing order to complexity. Whether you're improving an article, identifying duplicate content, refining metadata, or helping subject matter experts write clearer documentation, you're always looking for ways to make a knowledge base healthier and easier to maintain.

You understand that great knowledge doesn't happen by accident. It requires thoughtful structure, strong editorial practices, and ongoing stewardship. You're comfortable collaborating with contributors across the business, coaching them through content creation, and helping improve the systems and processes that support high-quality documentation.

Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On
  • Maintain and improve the health of our internal knowledge base by identifying outdated, duplicate, or incomplete content
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to our knowledge system and design features that enable our stakeholders to do their best work

  • Support content operations by coordinating reviews, managing publishing workflows, and improving contributor experiences
  • Apply content standards, templates, metadata, and taxonomy to improve consistency and discoverability
  • Monitor the quality and organization of knowledge content, proactively recommending improvements
  • Help develop and refine reusable content structures, authoring templates, and documentation patterns
  • Support governance efforts by helping ensure knowledge remains accurate, current, and aligned with organizational standards
  • Use data, feedback, and content audits to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, and operations teams to improve how knowledge supports the business
How You Will Do Your Work

As a Content Designer, how results are achieved is just as important as the outcomes themselves. Success in this role is anchored in the following competencies:

  • Content stewardship - You take ownership of content quality and proactively improve the health of the knowledge base over time.
  • Organization and attention to detail - You enjoy organizing complex information and have a strong eye for consistency, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Content operations mindset - You understand that great content depends on effective workflows, contributor support, and repeatable processes.
  • Collaboration - You build trusted relationships with subject matter experts and cross-functional partners, helping them create better knowledge together.
  • Continuous improvement - You're naturally curious and regularly identify opportunities to improve documentation, authoring workflows, and content organization.

In addition, all Justworkers focus on aligning their behaviors to our core values known as COGIS. It stands for:

  • Camaraderie - Day to day you can be seen working together toward a higher purpose. You like to have fun. You're an active listener, treat people respectfully, and have a strong desire to know and help others.
  • Openness - Your default is to be open. You're willing to share information, understand other perspectives, and consider new possibilities. You're curious, ask open questions, and are receptive to thoughts and feedback from others.
  • Grit - You demonstrate grit by having the courage to commit and persevere. You're committed, earnest, and dive in to get the job done well with a positive attitude.
  • Integrity - Simply put, do what you say and say what you'll do. You're honest and forthright, have a strong moral compass, and strive to match your words with your actions while leading by example.
  • Simplicity - Be like Einstein: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler."
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in content design, technical writing, content operations, knowledge management, documentation, or a related field
  • Experience working with content management systems, documentation platforms, or knowledge bases
  • Experience editing or managing documentation created by multiple contributors
  • Experience supporting content governance, publishing workflows, or documentation processes
