Job description

Inbound Container Scheduler

The Inbound Container Scheduler coordinates the scheduling and receipt of inbound containers, drop/pick trailers, and live unloads at the distribution center. This role manages daily and weekly appointment scheduling in WMS, monitors container ETAs and transit status, processes release documentation, and communicates receiving information across the dock, warehouse crews, and other departments. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor inbound shipments and create the container schedule for drop/pick and live unloads
  • Print and complete receiving sheets; set up expected unloads in WMS for the next day
  • Open and close appointments for warehouse crews and check variances as needed
  • Communication required receiving information to the dock and affected departments
  • Send the next-day unload list to all applicable parties daily
  • Create appointments in WMS for the following week
  • Notify teams upon arrival of special items and follow up to ensure timely receipt
  • Check container ETAs daily, update the system, and report changes to the appropriate parties
  • Process original documents and send OBLs (Original Bills of Lading) to forwarders for container release
  • Monitor all special or urgent items in transit and respond to status requests from other departments
  • Track air and courier shipments daily and request upload/receipt upon arrival
  • Monitor ROG (Receipt of Goods) to ensure all POs are received in MAS; confirm and resolve variances
  • Cross-train with co-workers to ensure adequate coverage during time off

Qualifications

Required

  • 1-2 years of experience in warehousing/transportation with a focus on truck/container scheduling and receipt
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred

  • Experience with High jump WMS and/or Microsoft D365
  • Experience processing bills of lading and working with freight forwarders

Skills Desired

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adapts well to change
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

  • Onsite role based in a distribution center/warehouse setting
  • Regular coordination with dock, warehouse crews, forwarders, and other internal departments
  • May require early morning availability to manage next-day scheduling and unload lists
