Job description

Supplies equipment to shippers, truckers and railroads, while managing the inventory of equipment in their area of operation. They assure that appropriate containers and equipment levels are maintained to meet customer needs in a timely manner while controlling costs.

  • Associates Degree Military Background will be a plusย 
  • Minimum 2 years of logistics experience in the Maritime Industry, or the equivalentย 
    combination of education and experience preferred. ย 
  • Understands most shipping terms; can use a dictionary to find terms not recognized. Isย 
    willing to clarify shipping terms unique to a location. Understands routings, schedulesย 
    and general practices of various countries, carriers, ports, and terminals. ย 
  • Knows what type of equipment must be made available at what locations, dependingย 
    on shipping schedules and types of goods shipped.ย 
  • Uses word processing software efficiently and effectively. ย Uses spreadsheet softwareย 
    as a tool for tracking work. ย Uses other software appropriate to work demands andย 
    effectively applies other components of MS Office required by the job. ย 
  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g., MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other softwareย 
    appropriate to work demands.
  • This position is in the United States and requires eligibility to work in the United States and completion of the employment eligibility form required under federal law
  • Daily tracking and releasing of equipment for all depots/Rail ramps in the area to ensureย 
    accurate inventory recordsย 
  • Ensures that customers obtain equipment which meets their shipping needs in a timelyย 
    fashionย 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including, pivot tablesย 
  • Experienced in using interactive dashboards and reports ( Qlik Sense and QlikView)ย 
  • Control and manage temporary import permits and paperwork before customs authorities ย 
  • Creates empty bookings as requiredย 
  • Repositions containers that are sold, or for sale, to the buyer ย 
  • Planning and steering empty container on vessel, barge, and feederย 
  • Tracks and traces overdue equipment to ensure faster turn-around and decrease of turn-ย 
    around timesย 
  • Issues works orders to reposition equipment by rail and/or by truckย 
  • Ensures that all equipment is at the appropriate locationย 
  • Updates various reports and cleans the error fileย 
  • Controls costs for positioning equipment and evaluates vendor performanceย 
  • Handles inquiries relating to equipment releases or inventory availabilityย 
  • Reviews gate in, gate out and empty container transport invoices ย ย
