Allegiant Utility Services Sales and Service is a world class utility service organization that has been providing meter installation, meter testing and meter sales to Rural Electric Cooperatives and Municipalities for over 20 years. We also cater to electric cooperatives, city municipalities, and a variety of other businesses such as recreational vehicle parks and retirement communities. Allegiant Utility Services installs primarily electric and water meters, also inspects and tests commercial electric meters through its field service divisions. Summary:
The Support Operations Representative's objective is to provide service for meter read audits, site safety inspection, and installation of meters at utility locations. Primarily responsibilities will include: Managing a daily schedule for work accomplishment, performing meter reads and site safety inspections, conducting field-related services (disconnect/reconnect), accountability of any assigned meters, conduct work within a work order management system, removal of old meters, installation of new meters for residential and commercial uses. High level of public interaction is required working in an outdoor environment.
Duties and core responsibilities:
  • Read/Audit electrical meters within Dobson NC
  • Connect/Disconnect utility service
  • Conduct site safety inspections
  • Removal of old electric meter with the Re-Installation of a new electric meter, as needed
  • Performs meter change outs per a specified manner
  • Conduct work through a Work Order system
  • Manage all inventory of new and old Meters
  • Working with utility personnel and utility consumers
  • Responsible use of a company truck and equipment
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned or required

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
  • Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, and walk several miles per day
  • Ability to carry up to 20 pounds of equipment
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable using handheld devices, computers, and digital technology
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to follow procedure

Position Type / Expected Hours
  • Full-time position
  • Daytime hours; schedule may vary based on route needs
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business demand - vary based on project expectations and work availability.

Required Education and Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid, unexpired driver's license required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Ability to walk 5+ miles per day and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Prior electrical, meter, utility, cable, or field technician experience preferred
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field

Compensation:
$17/hour - $18/hour (based on qualifications)
