What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Consulting Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Consulting Manager, you need strong analytical abilities, business acumen, project management expertise, and typically a bachelor's or master's degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, project management platforms, and possibly certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma are valuable. Outstanding client relationship management, leadership, and communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These competencies are essential for delivering impactful solutions, leading teams, and maintaining client satisfaction in a competitive consulting environment.

What is the role of a consulting manager?

A consulting manager oversees client projects, manages consulting teams, and ensures the delivery of strategic solutions that meet client needs. They coordinate resources, develop project plans, and communicate progress to stakeholders, often requiring strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and industry knowledge.

How does a Consulting Manager balance client expectations with project team capabilities?

Consulting Managers are often the bridge between clients and their project teams, which requires skillful expectation management. They regularly communicate with clients to clarify goals, timelines, and deliverables, while also assessing their team's workload and expertise. Balancing these priorities means proactively identifying risks, negotiating deadlines when necessary, and ensuring transparent communication on both sides. This collaborative approach helps maintain client satisfaction and supports a sustainable workload for the consulting team.

What is the difference between Consulting Manager vs Business Analyst?

The Consulting Manager oversees client projects, manages teams, and develops strategies, requiring leadership and project management skills. Business Analysts focus on analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and supporting decision-making. What does a Consulting Manager do?

A Consulting Manager oversees consulting projects and teams, working closely with clients to identify their needs and develop tailored solutions. They are responsible for managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outcomes. Their role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and industry expertise to drive successful project execution and client satisfaction.

Is AI going to replace consultants?

AI can automate routine tasks and analyze large data sets, but Consulting Managers rely on strategic thinking, client communication, and problem-solving skills that are difficult for AI to replicate. AI tools are used to enhance decision-making and efficiency, not replace the need for human expertise in consulting roles.

What are the 7 C's of consulting?

The 7 C's of consulting are a framework for effective client engagement and problem-solving, including Clarity, Consistency, Credibility, Competence, Communication, Commitment, and Courtesy. As a consulting manager, understanding these principles helps in delivering value and building trust with clients. Mastery of these concepts often involves strong interpersonal skills and analytical tools.

Is 100 an hour good for consulting?

For a consulting manager, earning $100 an hour can be considered competitive depending on industry, experience, and location. Senior consultants or those with specialized skills often charge higher rates, while entry-level roles may pay less. Factors such as project scope, client budget, and certifications also influence consulting rates.

This role is responsible for transforming warehouse and supply chain data into actionable insights that support operational decision-making, space optimization, mission planning, and cost reduction initiatives.

The Qlik Consulting Manager provides technical leadership across dashboard development, data modeling, visualization standards, and analytics governance. This position ensures analytics products deliver accurate metrics, reliable data relationships, compelling business narratives, and a consistent user experience across multiple hosting environments.

The ideal candidate combines deep Qlik expertise, leadership experience, strong business acumen, and a passion for helping organizations make better decisions through data.

What You Will Do

• Lead the strategy, roadmap, and standards for Qlik dashboards, data models, and analytics solutions across the program.
• Learn, assess, and understand the full suite of existing analytics products and identify opportunities for improvement and modernization.
• Gather requirements across product, business, and technical stakeholders to define future capabilities and priorities.
• Guide, mentor, and support Qlik developers and analytics practitioners in delivering scalable, high-quality solutions.
• Review and approve dashboard designs, data structures, metric logic, and enhancement requests to ensure technical quality and business alignment.
• Integrate product-driven requirements and benchmark dashboard capabilities against industry best practices to deliver modern analytics experiences.
• Provide technical leadership for advanced Qlik customization, including CSS, themes, content libraries, and open-source or third-party extensions.
• Oversee multi-source data modeling efforts, ensuring reliable relationships, validated metrics, and alignment with source systems.
• Lead efforts to improve, modernize, and troubleshoot existing dashboards while enhancing usability, performance, and visual storytelling.
• Coordinate publishing and deployment activities across multiple Qlik environments and collaborate with platform teams to resolve deployment challenges.
• Communicate insights, analytical findings, and strategic recommendations clearly to stakeholders, leadership teams, and clients.
• Establish and promote best practices for dashboard design, data governance, reporting standards, and analytics delivery.

What We Are Looking For

Required

• Deep hands-on expertise with Qlik, including dashboard architecture, scripting, data modeling, and advanced customization using CSS, themes, content libraries, and extensions.
• Demonstrated leadership experience guiding analytics teams or supporting multi-developer delivery environments.
• Strong ability to translate complex analytical requirements and operational data into clear, compelling, executive-ready visual narratives.
• Experience designing and validating data models across multiple data sources while ensuring accurate and reliable metric calculations.
• Proven ability to modernize, enhance, and troubleshoot existing dashboards and analytical products.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and data storytelling capabilities.
• Experience managing cross-platform Qlik deployments, supporting environment compatibility, and navigating platform-specific publishing workflows.

Preferred

• Experience supporting supply chain, logistics, warehouse utilization, or DLA-related programs.
• Experience leading analytics modernization initiatives or enterprise reporting programs.
• Familiarity with data governance, data quality management, and analytics best practices.
• Experience supporting Federal or DoD organizations.
• Experience managing technical teams, project priorities, and analytics roadmaps.

Clearance and Eligibility
