This Opportunity:
Join our team in this year-round opportunity to develop both construction and design skills.
  • Oversee or participate in field activities on WisDOT projects with some opportunities for municipal projects as well
  • Provide on-site representation for a variety of projects, supporting tasks such as documentation, material testing, survey coordination, and more.
  • Uses engineering and technical knowledge to complete construction duties
  • Conducts final inspection of construction projects
  • Provides expert-level field observations of projects of all sizes and complexities for conformance with engineering plans and specifications
  • Serves as a lead construction engineer on multi-phase or multi-operational projects coordinating personnel, schedules and work assignments while also overseeing lower-level staff in completing their project specific duties
  • Assist with monitoring the safety of construction group personnel assigned to projects, the quality of group's performance and ensuring activities are performed to the industry and Company standards
  • Provides all-encompassing construction engineering duties efficiently and coordinates the work of multiple construction representatives over multiple projects
  • Effectively communicates with and presents information from Construction Leader, other practice leaders, engineers, contractors, clients, customers, public groups, and the public.
  • This opportunity is open to candidate residing in the following areas: Appleton, WI; Sheboygan, WI

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain required HTCP certifications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to calculate project quantities accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Familiarity with AASHTOWare Project (AWP)
  • Commitment to SEH's Quality and Safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 - 10 years of experience in the construction industry, with knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, scheduling, and construction administration.
  • Knowledge of WisDOT construction policies/practices
  • Professional Engineer licensure or ability to obtain within a reasonable amount of time
  • Willingness and ability to travel long distances daily, if required.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D, OneOffice, Bluebeam, and/or Adobe.

This position requires an MVR records check verifying that you possess a valid driver's license and a driving record which meets the requirements of SEH's Driving Program.
