We have an opening for a collaborative and driven individual to join our Data Centers & Mission Critical team as an MEP Superintendent. This position will lead and manage all activities associated with construction startup, commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and control systems. The MEP Superintendent ensures strict adherence to contract documents and project schedules while collaborating with clients to achieve project-specific goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for partial project ownership including, but not limited to:
  • Preparation of project construction document including the RFP package and ensuring accuracy of MEP scope definitions.
  • Manage MEP trade contractors and vendors.
  • Project budget management and maintenance.
  • Preparation and issuance of Subcontract-specific terms and conditions for estimating to incorporate into the master Subcontract.
  • Manage the overall commissioning process: Coordinate third-party commissioning activities and manage system documentation, training, and handover processes for seamless client transition.
  • Management of a master submittal schedule and submittal log.
  • Management of material tracking log and deficiency log.
  • Oversee the equipment procurement process and ensure seamless integration into project execution.
  • Coordinate and track equipment deliveries and critical path construction/startup activities.
  • Develop, track, and maintain the MEP critical path schedule, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
  • Assist the Project Administrator in processing all construction documentation as needed
  • Manage Owner Change Order Requests from RFP to submission of change order.
  • Preparation and distribution of Subcontractor Change Orders and associated budget revisions.
  • Attend and participate in trade pre-construction meetings with the project team to review all requirements.
  • Develop and implement methods of procedure (MOP) for critical work in live environments.
  • Lead quality control processes for MEP systems construction and oversee startup/pretesting activities.
  • Leverage expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) to optimize system design and installation.
  • Help drive the site-specific safety plan and the importance of a safety-first mindset
  • Responsible for organizing and conducting project meetings for critical MEP activities
  • Participate in the Hourigan Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) by committing to safe work practices, raising concerns, attending, and applying safety and health training, and eliminating hazards within your capability and control and the help of safety staff.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5-7 years of general contracting experience with at least 3 years of experience in mission-critical/data center projects, hospital construction, or MEP commissioning.
  • Expertise in MEP system design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Construction estimating, means and methods, accounting, document administration, and a thorough understanding of industry practices.
  • Application of LEED certifications is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience with scheduling software, Textura, Procore, and Bluebeam preferred.
  • Previous experience managing employees preferred.
