Job description

Rod Heisler Construction (RHC) — Construction Project Manager

Oakland / San Francisco Bay Area | Temp-to-Hire | Commercial & Residential

ABOUT THIS ROLE

This position begins as a temporary engagement with a genuine possibility of transitioning to full-time as our project pipeline grows later in the year.

ABOUT RHC

Rod Heisler Construction is a trusted leader in commercial and custom residential construction across the San Francisco Bay Area. From high-profile commercial projects to beautifully crafted custom homes, we bring quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful problem-solving to everything we build.

We're a tight-knit team that operates with an open, collaborative culture — one where PMs are respected partners, not paper-pushers. Your work will matter here.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to own the full project lifecycle — from pre-construction through closeout — across a mix of commercial and residential work in the Bay Area. You'll be the central point of coordination for owners, design teams, subs, and field staff, keeping projects on schedule, on budget, and to RHC's high standards.

The right person is organized, financially sharp, a clear communicator, and comfortable managing complexity without losing sight of the details.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Project Leadership

  • Manage projects from pre-construction through completion, maintaining smooth execution at every phase.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to anticipate challenges and drive decisions.
  • Organize and lead project meetings; track and communicate action items and key deliverables.
  • Maintain all project documentation including RFIs, submittals, and schedules.

Financial & Contract Management

  • Own project budgets, billing cycles, and cost reporting from start to finish.
  • Process change orders and client requests accurately and on time.
  • Draft, manage, and execute subcontractor and vendor agreements.
  • Price new scopes of work and proactively track project financials.

Site & Team Oversight

  • Conduct regular site visits to confirm quality, safety compliance, and schedule progress.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and hold teams accountable to deadlines and standards.
  • Manage punch lists and drive efficient project closeout.
  • Support and mentor junior team members; contribute to a productive, collaborative site culture.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years of experience in construction project management, with a track record on commercial and/or residential projects in the Bay Area.
  • Strong command of construction financials, contracts, and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and MS Project required; hands-on experience with Procore and Sage strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without losing track of the details.
  • A proactive, solutions-first mindset with the communication skills to keep every stakeholder informed and aligned.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to hit the ground running in a temp-to-hire context.

WHY RHC

  • Meaningful work on a varied mix of commercial and custom residential Bay Area projects.
  • A respected firm that values its PMs — you'll have real ownership of your projects.
  • An open, collaborative culture where your contributions are recognized.
  • Real potential for this role to grow into a full-time position as RHC's pipeline expands.
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.

Company Description
