Job Description

The Construction Project Manager oversees complex public sector construction projects, with a strong focus on K–12, higher education, and municipal facilities. This role leads projects from planning and design through construction and closeout, serving as an owner’s representative and primary point of contact for public clients. The position requires deep expertise in municipal design codes, strong project management capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across school and municipal projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end management of construction projects for public clients, including K–12 schools, higher education facilities, and municipal buildings.
  • Serve as an owner’s representative, advocating for the client’s interests throughout design, construction, and project closeout.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution using tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Manage and coordinate design and construction activities to ensure alignment with project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal design codes and applicable regulations on all assigned projects.
  • Lead client-facing activities, including meetings, presentations, and regular project status updates for public sector stakeholders.
  • Prepare, review, and manage project proposals, estimates, and budgets to support successful project delivery.
  • Administer and track change orders, ensuring accurate documentation, cost control, and timely approvals.
  • Coordinate with project engineers and construction teams to resolve field issues and maintain project quality standards.
  • Oversee construction management activities on-site, including monitoring progress, safety practices, and adherence to design specifications.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Approximately 10 years of industry experience in construction or engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a project management role overseeing construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with municipal design codes on public works or similar projects.
  • Proven experience leading public clients on school and municipal construction projects.
