Construction Operations Assistant Iowa Sports Turf

Iowa Sports Turf, a division of Musco Sports Lighting, has an opening for a Construction Operations Assistant at our Des Moines office. The purpose of this position is to assist the Construction Operations Manager daily, overseeing all phases of field projects; including coordinating workers, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The Construction Operations Assistant will also serve as the main administrative support and source of contact for vendors/customers. Little League

Essential Criteria:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or similar field preferred

  • Six months to two years related experience and/or training required or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Valid Drivers License required

  • Assist with managing projects with subcontractors

  • Handle customer calls/inquiries

  • Communicate with clients and subcontractors

  • Manage construction project calendar

  • Assist in estimating project scope and costs

  • Track purchases, deliveries and invoices; apply invoices against purchase orders

  • Provide onsite management of construction projects

  • Write proposals for smaller project

  • Manage project documents internally

  • Attend internal status meetings as required

  • Attend and/or coordinate prospective field visits/walkthroughs

  • Work toward continuous quality improvement

  • Stay current with changing technology, including software programs

  • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Innovative problem-solving with a team-oriented mindset

  • Highly flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments

  • Other duties as assigned

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Travel and driving approximately 1/3 of on-the-job time and may require use of personal vehicle
