Job Summary:

The Apprentice supports the division in the Fire safety in buildings is one of their most important security and safety measures.  A fire sprinkler fitter installs the piping system and accessories such as hangers, pipe, sprinklers, seismic restraints, and valves to complete the fire sprinkler system. The apprentice assists the fitter or foreman.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Layout product for installation, stage tools, and execute basic piping installation jobs
  • Read and understand fire sprinkler blueprints
  • Employ safety measures while installing a fire safety system
  • Perform tasks; measuring, marking, cutting, threading pipe for installation
  • Connect fittings and sprinkler heads to pipe, then test the system to ensure there are no leaks
  •  Keep abreast with the latest developments in fire sprinklers, NFPA fire sprinkler codes
  • Document all details of work

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Safe work habits.
  • Ability to stay organized.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of tools.
  • High level of precision workmanship.
  • Willingness to learn about fire sprinkler systems and fire sprinkler codes.
  • Strong eye for detail.
  • Ability to understand blueprints, stock lists, and inventory.
  • Excellent judgment and analysis skills.
  • Must be highly organized, systematic, and adherent to construction deadlines.
  • Steel experience, including cutting, threading, and grooving black steel pipe
  • CPVC experience, including cutting, reaming, welding, and hanging CPVC pipe.
  • Basic Proficiency in English required. Candidates must have a basic understanding of English for safety purposes and to effectively communicate with colleagues, vendors, and contractors on-site. The ability to follow instructions and engage with the team is essential for success in this role.
