Job description

Job Summary:

As a Fence Helper at National Construction Rentals, Inc. (NCR), you will play a crucial role in assisting the Fence Foreman to ensure the successful installation and maintenance of fences according to company standards. Your responsibilities include supporting all aspects of fence operations, maintaining a safe work environment, and upholding high levels of customer satisfaction. You will represent NCR professionally while adhering to safety protocols and contributing to a positive team dynamic.

Salary Range: 1st year $60k-$80k with an additional $10k in quarterly/yearly bonus for working and driving safe. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Conduct daily inspections and testing of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.
  • Load truck with necessary equipment and materials for daily assignments, ensuring secure placement.
  • Attend job sites with Foreman, meet with customers to review project details.
  • Install fence poles, erect fences, and tension wire to meet NCR specifications.
  • Clean job sites thoroughly, remove debris, and ensure all equipment is properly stored on the truck upon completion of work.
  • Clean and maintain trucks, restocking materials for future fence installations.
  • Always adhere to safety protocols, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and participate in all required safety meetings.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in following detailed instructions and making occasional independent decisions.
  • Capability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operational manuals, and maintenance instructions.
  • Competence in performing mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Application of common-sense reasoning to effectively execute detailed written and verbal instructions.

Licenses/Certificates/Registrations: 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a Motor Vehicle Record within company guidelines. 
  • Positions that require driving a vehicle with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs. or more require the incumbent to be at least 21 years old and possess a DOT medical card.
  • A forklift certification will be provided after hire.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • Conditions involve working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, long periods of driving and walking; occasional standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking and hearing/listening, working in high precarious places.
  • The nature of the work is extremely physical, which requires frequent holding, pulling or pushing up to 100 lbs.
  • Fence helpers are exposed to working with and around moving and vibrating mechanical parts and working in high precarious places. Work involves exposure to loud machines, vehicles, and building construction noise.
