A Construction Development job involves overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from inception to completion. Professionals in this role work with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects meet design specifications, budgets, and timelines. They may also handle permitting, site selection, and regulatory compliance. Strong project management and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this field.
A typical day in Construction Development often involves coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are progressing smoothly and meeting all specifications. You may review blueprints, oversee site inspections, manage budgets and schedules, and address any issues that could impact project timelines. Additionally, documentation, compliance checks, and frequent communication with team members are common aspects of the role. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring both on-site visits and office-based planning, offering a diverse range of responsibilities and challenges.
To excel in Construction Development, you need a strong understanding of project management, site planning, budgeting, and regulatory compliance, typically supported by a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Knowledge of industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and familiarity with local building codes and safety certifications like OSHA are highly valuable. Outstanding organizational, leadership, and negotiation skills help professionals coordinate teams and maintain productive stakeholder relationships. These abilities are crucial for delivering projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with industry regulations and quality standards.

Design & Construction Project Manager
The opportunity
A fast-growing international hospitality and entertainment operator is expanding its U.S. footprint. We are looking for a Design & Construction Project Manager to guide new venues and existing-location improvements from early planning through opening. This is an owner-side role for someone who can connect design intent, permitting, construction execution, and operational readiness.
You will be the day-to-day link among internal leaders, landlords, architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and municipal agencies. The right person is equally comfortable reviewing plans, walking a jobsite, challenging a schedule, working through agency comments, and giving leadership a clear view of budget, risk, and next steps.
What you'll own
• Lead multiple venue projects from due diligence and design coordination through construction, turnover, and closeout.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, specialty consultants, general contractors, landlords, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage permitting and plan-check activity, respond to agency comments, and keep approvals aligned with project schedules.
• Own project schedules, budgets, milestones, change orders, RFIs, reporting, and risk tracking.
• Review plans, specifications, and construction documents for quality, constructability, brand consistency, and operational fit.
• Conduct site visits, surface issues early, and drive decisions that protect cost, schedule, and opening readiness.
• Coordinate specialty building systems, including acoustics, sound isolation, AV, technology, and other venue infrastructure.
What success looks like
• New locations and improvements open on schedule, within approved budgets, and ready for operations.
• Permitting, design decisions, and construction risks are actively managed rather than allowed to become surprises.
• External partners and internal teams have clear ownership, timely decisions, and reliable project information.
• Each project meets the company's brand, quality, safety, and operating standards.
What you bring
• At least five years of project management experience across architecture, construction, development, or design-build environments.
• Hands-on delivery of tenant improvements or other customer-facing commercial projects; hospitality, restaurant, entertainment, retail, or experiential work is especially relevant.
• Working knowledge of the full design and construction lifecycle, including permitting, construction administration, budgeting, scheduling, RFIs, change orders, and closeout.
• Experience coordinating architecture and engineering teams, contractors, landlords, vendors, and municipal agencies.
• Confidence reading construction documents, visiting active jobsites, identifying risk, and driving cross-functional follow-through.
• Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and the organization to manage several projects at once.
Helpful, but not required
• Owner/operator-side project delivery or multi-unit rollout experience.
• California permitting, plan-check, and commercial construction experience.
• Experience with acoustic design, sound isolation, AV integration, or specialty venue systems.
• Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Procore, Smartsheet, or comparable platforms.
• A degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, interior architecture, or a related field.
Location
This position is based in Los Angeles and requires regular site visits. Projects may be located in California and other U.S. markets, so some travel should be expected.
