What is a consignment manager?

Consignment Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the process of selling goods on consignment, where items are sold on behalf of their owners and payment is made only when the goods are sold. They coordinate inventory intake, pricing, display, and sales, and often act as a liaison between consignors (owners) and buyers. Their duties may include evaluating item condition, negotiating consignor agreements, and managing records of sales and payouts. Consignment Managers typically work in retail stores, galleries, or online marketplaces that specialize in consigned goods.

How does a consignment manager typically collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth consignment operations?

A Consignment Manager works closely with vendors to negotiate terms, monitor inventory levels, and coordinate the timely delivery and return of consigned goods. Internally, they liaise with sales, inventory control, and finance teams to track product movement, reconcile accounts, and ensure accurate reporting. Effective communication and relationship management are key, as the role often involves balancing vendor expectations with company objectives. Regular meetings and data-sharing sessions help to keep all stakeholders aligned and address any challenges proactively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a consignment manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Consignment Manager, you need strong organizational skills, inventory management experience, and a background in retail or logistics, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with inventory management software, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and basic accounting tools is typically required. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills help you manage consignor partnerships and resolve issues efficiently. These capabilities are vital for maintaining accurate inventory, maximizing sales, and ensuring smooth consignment operations.

Job description

MY SISTER’S ATTIC

Fine Furniture, Home Décor & Luxury Consignment

Lincoln Village Shopping Center  •  Scottsdale, Arizona

ABOUT MY SISTER’S ATTIC

My Sister’s Attic has  a focus on fine furniture, luxury home décor, and select art pieces. Our Lincoln Village showroom is a fast-paced, beautifully curated environment built on an exceptional team and an even more exceptional product.

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Consignment Buyer who brings a genuine passion for fine furniture and luxury home décor. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for our consignors — evaluating incoming pieces, researching their quality and market value, and making sound buying decisions that uphold the high standards our customers expect.

This is not your average retail position. You will need a sharp eye, a confident knowledge of high-end furnishings, and the ability to connect with consignors in a way that is professional, warm, and trustworthy.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Evaluate incoming furniture, home décor, and art pieces for quality, condition, and consignment potential
  • Research items to assess current market value, brand heritage, and resale demand
  • Make timely, well-informed buying decisions aligned with store standards and inventory needs
  • Communicate decisions to consignors with professionalism and care
  • Accurately process accepted items using our consignment management and POS systems
  • Maintain an organized and efficient buying station
  • Collaborate with the store team and assist in other areas of the showroom as needed
  • Uphold Eco Chic’s brand values in every consignor and customer interaction

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

We believe in rewarding great people. Here’s what we offer:

  • Competitive hourly pay, commensurate with experience (DOE)
  • Commission and bonus potential for eligible employees
  • 401(k) with company match — available to both full-time and part-time employees who meet enrollment criteria
  • Pet care benefits available to part-time employees
  • Full-time employees are also eligible for co-paid medical, dental, vision, life, critical care, accident insurance, and paid vacation
  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Eco Chic Consignments reserves the right to conduct background checks on pre-hire candidates and employees. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of these checks where applicable.

    Think you’re the right fit?

We’d love to meet you. Apply in person at or submit your resume online.

My Sister’s Attic is a division of Eco Chic Consignments  •  Equal Opportunity Employer

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in consignment buying, furniture retail, estate sales, or a related field
  • Current, working knowledge of fine, high-end furniture and home decor brands and market values
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Strong research and computer skills; ability to look up and verify item provenance and value
  • An impeccable sense of style and a professional, polished appearance
  • POS system experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced showroom environment
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
