Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior-Level Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer/Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily manage and complete projects related to EHS compliance and permitting solutions through each stage of our client's asset life cycle - including business and property acquisition due diligence, facility expansions, operational compliance, auditing, environmental, health and safety assessment/evaluation, and facility decommissioning and divestiture. Categories Stantec serves include power & utilities, renewable energy, oil & gas, food & agriculture, higher education, manufacturing, metals & mining, real estate, and transportation. This role requires collaboration with Stantec's regional and national sector leaders, business leaders, key account managers, technical leaders, and staff.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain existing client relationships.
  • Manage projects and project teams to meet client's scope, schedule, budget, and profit expectations.
  • Manage and assist with the preparation of project deliverables.
  • Use engineering principles to provide and lead development of permitting solutions for various industrial and commercial equipment at facilities.
  • Perform marketing activities as needed to identify and respond to project opportunities.
  • Prepare proposals describing scope, schedule, and estimated budget for executing projects.
  • Organize and direct project teams for a wide variety of clients and EHS compliance media.
  • Provide quality assurance/quality control of project deliverables.
  • Lead development of compliance strategies on projects.
  • Assist clients in identifying appropriate monitoring, planning, training, testing, record-keeping, and reporting protocols.
  • Mentor and assist with training team members.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proven demonstration of applying principles of engineering to evaluate industrial and commercial equipment designs at facilities for permitting and compliance solutions.
  • Able to develop proposals and manage changes related to scope, schedule, and budget for projects.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of air quality environmental regulations and requirements, including Title V and Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting under New Source Review (NSR).
  • Experience with program assistance for environmental, heath & safety laws and regulations associated with, but not limited to, Clean Water Act (CWA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Oil Pollution Act (OPA) spill planning, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with both clients and project team members.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software platform, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
  • Able to travel regionally and as needed, have overnight trips.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Education and Experience
  • An undergraduate degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field.
  • Approximately 10 or more years of multimedia EHS compliance experience and 2 or more years of project management experience.
  • At least 2 years of EHS consulting experience.
  • PE, CHMM, CPEA, or other registrations a plus.

Position will primarily work in an office setting with occasional work in the field. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
